# Free VPN not connecting on Android? Let’s get you connected.

When Free VPN will not connect on Android, start with the network and the system VPN permission. Then check your access time and retry with a simple connection setup. You do not need to create a Free VPN account or reset your phone to begin.

## Start with a connection you can check

Open Free VPN and read the current status. Is it still connecting, disconnected, or connected while a page will not load? Those are different problems. Keep the app's message visible and work through the checks below in order.

If you have not installed the app yet, use our [official Google Play listing](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.freevpn). Free VPN by Free VPN .org™ is published by Free VPN LLC. Our [Android setup guide](/guides/free-vpn-android/) covers your first connection.

## Check the network before changing the app

On a trusted connection, disconnect the VPN briefly and open a familiar website. Traffic during that check uses your normal connection. If the website still will not load, try another trusted network or compare Wi-Fi with mobile data, subject to your data plan.

At a hotel or airport, finish the network's sign-in page before reconnecting Free VPN. If you see an unexpected certificate warning, stop and confirm the network with its operator. A VPN cannot complete a hotspot's sign-in requirement for you.

## Allow Android's VPN request

When Free VPN asks to create a VPN connection, review and approve the Android system prompt if you intend to connect. Return to the app and try again. The app supplies its VPN configuration; you do not need to find a server password online.

Android supports one active VPN service per user or profile. If another VPN or a local filtering app uses that connection, it can conflict with Free VPN. Check which app is active before switching. Leave work or school device policies to the administrator. Google's [Android VPN help](https://support.google.com/android/answer/9089766?hl=en) explains the system controls; labels vary by device.

## Check free access, then choose a simple route

Our mobile free access is supported by ads. Check the access time and options shown inside your installed version. If more free time is needed, use the app's ad-supported route; a paid upgrade is optional. No Free VPN signup is required.

Start with **Fastest** and **General** where those options are shown. Reconnect and wait for the connected state before opening your browser. If one region fails, compare one other available nearby region. Changing several settings at once makes the cause harder to identify.

## Connected, but the page still will not load?

Try a second familiar HTTPS website. If it loads, the problem may be specific to the first service, its account or its location rules. A VPN connection does not supply another service's subscription or change your eligibility.

If no sites load, note whether the problem happens on Wi-Fi, mobile data or both. Check any app-level routing choices you have changed, then return to a basic setup for comparison. Avoid copying unknown DNS settings or disabling your firewall to chase a connection.

## If Free VPN keeps disconnecting on Android

Note whether the drop follows a Wi-Fi-to-mobile handoff, a screen lock or the end of available free time. Update Free VPN through Google Play, restart the phone and try the same connection again. Device power-management settings vary; inspect the app's battery settings if drops consistently follow screen lock, rather than changing every app's power controls.

If Android uses an always-on VPN with traffic blocking, an unavailable tunnel may also leave the device offline. Check the active VPN app and system status. You do not need to switch off that protection just to follow this guide.

## Keep the next step simple

Once connected, try the task you came to do. **NO LOGS. NO LOGINS.** Free VPN does not log your browsing activity or ask you to create a VPN account to start. Read our [privacy policy](/privacy-policy/) for the advertising and service details.

Still stuck? [Contact Free VPN support](/contact/) with your Android version, app version, network type, selected region and exact error. That gives us a useful starting point. Do not send passwords, verification codes or private browsing history.

## Android connection questions

### Why is Free VPN stuck connecting on Android?

Check that the internet works, approve the Android VPN request, confirm available free access and retry with one available region. Another active VPN service can conflict with the connection.

### Do I need an account or manual VPN password?

No Free VPN account is needed to start free access. Install the official app and approve its system VPN request. You do not need to copy manual server credentials from another website.

### Should I reinstall Free VPN first?

Start with the network, permission, access time and a restart. Reinstalling is not the first step. If the issue remains, send the app and Android versions plus the exact error to support.

### Why does the app say connected while one website fails?

Try a second familiar HTTPS website. If it loads, check the affected service’s account, subscription, availability and status. An active VPN connection does not guarantee that every service will accept its public IP.
