Meet the app before you give it your connection
Free VPN creates an encrypted connection between your device and a VPN server. Destinations normally see the server's public IP rather than your ordinary network address for traffic carried through that tunnel. This is useful on an unfamiliar network or when you need an available VPN location for an app or workflow.
We offer mobile apps, desktop installation routes and a terminal client. They serve different devices, so the first decision is straightforward: choose the route for the machine you actually use. The Apple store app and our desktop CLI are distinct installation paths with their own requirements. Choose the official download and setup instructions for your device.

These answers give you a place to begin. You should be able to follow the links, recognize the product and understand the access option before installing it. You do not need to use a search result with a similar name or a third-party APK mirror.
Choose the installation route for your device
For Android, use our Google Play listing. For iPhone, iPad or the Apple store edition for Mac, use our App Store listing and check that device's compatibility section. These identifiers stay useful even when a store title or icon changes.
For Windows, our Windows page explains the installer and PowerShell routes. Linux and terminal users should begin with CLI documentation. The desktop service can run without a GUI, while an optional companion window makes everyday connection and region controls easier to use. If this is a managed or remote computer, confirm that changing its network route fits its role before installation.

Understand free access before considering an upgrade
Our mobile free tier is supported by advertising. Read the access and connection-time choices shown in your version, then choose the free option if that is what you want. A premium offer is optional; a store purchase or trial has its own price and renewal terms.
On Windows, free access uses Fastest and General in recurring sessions. Premium adds unlimited VPN time and additional controls. Our Windows page explains the desktop access options; mobile apps let you watch ads to earn VPN time.
Before accepting a trial, read the billing period and renewal screen. Disconnecting the VPN or deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Keep the confirmation from the store or billing service if you later cancel. You can try the free connection without making a purchase simply to see whether the app fits your routine.
The setup is install, approve, connect
On a phone or tablet, install the official app, approve its VPN profile or system connection request, then connect. There is no Free VPN login, account form or email verification between you and the connection. On desktop, use the documented installer and service setup for that operating system.
In the mobile free tier, watching ads earns VPN time. If you prefer not to watch ads, review the optional paid upgrade in your app. Free access is a usable route, not a requirement to begin a paid trial.
Know which permissions are part of setup
On mobile, the operating system asks permission to establish a VPN connection. Read that system prompt before accepting it. Desktop setup may require administrator approval to install its background service and network components. Our documented CLI installer detects the platform and verifies the download against a published SHA-256 sidecar.
Those requests are different from sending a password to support. We do not need your store password, payment card number, recovery code or unrelated account credentials to explain an installation issue. Use the official support contact if a request or publisher detail does not match the expected route.
Make the first connection useful
Set up Free VPN on a familiar network, before you depend on it while traveling. Start with the default route, wait for the connected state and open an ordinary HTTPS page. Try one app you normally use, then disconnect and confirm it still works.
Next, explore the controls that serve your needs. Regions chooses a VPN location, such as US East, UK, Germany or Japan. Services lets you select an activity or service—for example, BBC iPlayer for viewing or PUBG Mobile for gaming. Optional Ad Block filters known requests while connected. Android's app filter can route selected apps outside the VPN. A desktop user can read freevpn status and use freevpn doctor for diagnostics. You do not need to enable every feature at once.
Our privacy promise, with its scope
Free VPN does not keep browsing-activity logs. No-account access means you do not provide a Free VPN signup identity to begin. What should I send support if setup fails?
Send your platform, app version, public download route and the exact error. Remove private identifiers from screenshots and diagnostic reports. Do not send passwords, payment details or recovery codes.
Does uninstalling cancel a subscription?
